These sweet stone hearts were hand made in Kenya out of Kisii stone (or "soapstone"). Mostly men have the responsibility of chiseling the basic shape of the heart and then mostly women wet sand them until they are smooth. Then the hearts are painted or colored with vegetable dyes.
