This elegant style of basket making has evolved for hundreds of years around The Great Temples of Angkor Wat in northwest Cambodia.
"La peuk" is basically a weed in Cambodia that grows about as fast as the artisans can pull it; it is certainly a sustainable material! The la peuk is then dried and refined into the long slender yellow reads that create the uniquely fresh appearance of these baskets.
The center of the basket is a piece of bamboo. Each bamboo piece is slightly different in color, but all are rich and wonderful.
